Australian Sailing announces Board appointments
Published Tue 10 Nov 2020
Australian Sailing President Daniel Belcher and Vice President Alistair Murray AM have both been reappointed to the Board of Australian Sailing as Elected Directors unopposed.
The appointments were confirmed at Australian Sailing’s Annual General Meeting last week, which was help virtually for the first time as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Belcher and Murray will now commence new two-year terms on the Board. This allows them to continue as President and Vice President, roles they were first elected to at the 2019 Australian Sailing Annual General Meeting.
Prior to the AGM, the Australian Sailing Board also re-joined Joanne Keen and Skip Lissiman to the board as Appointed Directors.
The Australian Sailing constitution allows the Elected Directors to appoint up to four persons because of their special business acumen and/or technical skills. An Appointed Director holds office for a term determined by the Elected Directors not to exceed two years and may only serve four terms. Joanne Keen and Skip Lissiman were both first appointed in October 2016 and were due for reappointment. Their reappointment is the beginning of their third term.
Joanne is General Counsel of Queensland Rail with extensive experience as a General Counsel and senior executive. Joanne has raced Hobie 16s extensively, kitesurfs and has competed in many Brisbane to Gladstone yacht races. Skip brings to the Board experience and success in the America’s Cup and significant business experience in sailing having been the Western Australian Yachting Foundation’s CEO from 1991 – 2016 and founding Board member of Western Australia 2011 Pty Ltd from 2006 to 2011.
