Australia Day Fun Weekend at Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron
Published Fri 18 Dec 2020
To celebrate boating on the Bay, the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron is hosting an event-filled Australia Day weekend of fun activities for all. Both on and off water events will take place around Port Philip, which will be inclusive of all boats and involve multiple Clubs from around the Bay. With open invitations to keelboats, dinghies, multihulls, motorboats and more, for sailors, their families and friends of all skill levels, there will be something for everyone including after parties at RMYS each evening! Activities will be happening all weekend for you to choose from, including free on-water fun, culminating in an on-water spectacle including boats of all types joining a Flotilla around the Bay.
SATURDAY 23 January 2021: Meet in the Middle – Buoy O Buoy
An open invitation to rendezvous in the middle of Port Phillip at 1pm with skippers and crew from around the bay at Centre Buoy, M1! Grab your family and friends – a great opportunity to catch up and have some Nauti fun.
SUNDAY 24 January 2021: Hunt for the Bounty
Ahoy! What treasures will you find as you scavenge in this hunt for clues and points? All invited to traverse the seven seas (of northern Port Phillip) in this scavenger hunt!
MONDAY 25 January 2021: Charity Yacht Race
Time to get serious for the Charity Yacht Race, but watch your back as the windward / leeward course may not be what they seem. A sneaky donation to Sailors with Disabilities may sway handicaps. No sails no harm – if you can’t race you can still participate in the on water photography competition!
TUESDAY 26 January 2021: Australia Day Spectacle
On-water spectacle including boats of all types – Join the all clubs flotilla to showcase sailing and boating on the Bay that promises to be spectacular!
