Mixed conditions for the 2019 Hart Cup keeps skippers on their game

Published Thu 09 May 2019

The 2019 Hart Cup attracted nineteen entries, with thirteen yachts crossing the start line at Manly on their way to Mooloolaba.

Excuses for withdrawal ranged from "I need a gall bladder operation" to "I have sold the boat" to "I am still in Gladstone".

The light NW winds meant a spinnaker start,  with most yachts raising their spinnakers while crossing the start line on the first leg across to Lockyer light.  Many thanks to Malagari and crew for an excellent start.

Wind conditions for the race were varied, with winds ranging from almost calm to around twenty five knots for an hour or two.  Nine yachts finished the race, with two motoring to the finish and another two anchoring overnight off Bribie Island.

Line Honours went to Ragtime skippered by Christopher Morgan from Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron and Handicap Winner was Blew Bayou skippered by Barry Wood from Manly Yacht Club.
