Attending face-to-face training

Where accreditation require face to face course completion ensure you are prepared to get the most out of your training. Below is important information and access to relevant resources: 

How to prepare:

  • Ahead of attending training, complete session plans or presentations specific for your course:
    • Dinghy Instructor
    • Keelboat Instructor
    • Windsurf Instructor
    • Powerboat Instructor
    • Sailing Coach course 
  •  Review course related resources (contained in the links above)
  • It is strongly encouraged to complete any e-learning required for accreditation before the face-to-face course
  • Ensure you meet the accreditation requirements and skills. 
  • Save this web url. 

What to bring to a face-to-face course:

  • Completed session plans and any relevant teaching aids you require.
  • Suitable clothing for onland, sailing and on powerboat. Such as wetsuit, life jacket and a warm set of clothes (spare) and waterproof jacket, etc..
  • A fun and active attitude, there will be theory, role plays, on water and off water activity and other fun things to get involved in.
  • Maritime Licence (if applicable in your state)
  • Pen and a notebook.
  • Water, snacks and lunch, depending on location 

Other useful information:

  • You will not gain your accreditation with Australian Sailing until all course components (eLearning & face-to-face learning), and all other requirements and pre-requisites have been completed. 
  • Participants will need to be assessed as competent in the face-to-face course. Assessment during the course will be continuous with feedback provided, if competency is not achieved an action plan will be provided.
  • Upon accreditation you will be responsible for training and assessing sailors, ensuring the standards set by Australian Sailing are adhered toIn accepting the position, it is imperative that you deliver courses in accordance with Australian Sailing participation framework, operating standards and procedures at all times.
