Course Overview
The State Race Officer Seminar is aimed at educating Australian Sailing members in advanced principles to conduct consistent, fair and safe championship racing.
State Race Officers play an important role in sailing by enabling higher level competition through conducting quality racing for championship events.
To become accredited as an Australian Sailing State Race Officer you are required to:
- Be a member of an Australian Sailing affiliated club.
- Attend an Australian Sailing State Race Officer Seminar.
- Pass the State Race Officer Exam with a State level score or more.
- Provide a log showing you have acted as a Race Officer in at least four events.
- Have passed the Race Officer Performance Assessment in the past four years
If you wish to accredit via submitting prior evidence that meets the above requirements please complete the State Race Officer Accreditation Application Form. When completing the form please upload any Word, Excel or other documents in PDF format.
Registration at the top of this page allow you to enrol in an available Accreditation Seminar.
Attendees are asked to bring to the seminar:
- Their online edition of the 2021-2024 Racing Rules of Sailing.
- Notepad and pen (or lap top/notebook).
Course Prerequisites
There are no pre-requisites for participation in this seminar. However, attendance at the Australian Sailing Race Officer Seminar is just one aspect of becoming a State Race Officer.

Course Price
The cost of the seminar is $155.00 (The Officials polo is no longer provided).
Who should do this course?
The State Race Officer Seminar is aimed at training people who wish to conduct championship racing and may aspire to become senior Race Officers in the sport of Sailing. Those who may be interested in becoming a State Race Officer include parents, club volunteers and sailors who have experience with sailing racing.
Course Outcome
Participants will become accredited as a State Race Officer; an individual in charge of all on water activities at club or singular championship course and manages all associated race officials and volunteers.
