Across multiple classes at major northern hemisphere events over the winter months, Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron members staged a world-beating charge to claim five key sailing trophies: the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup, Sailing Champions League Final, 470 World Championship, Transpac Race line honours and the Etchells World Championship.
The second act of the Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore Series (Audi Centre Sydney BWPS) sets off this Saturday, in what looks to be tactical northerly conditions. Thirty five yachts will compete in the 92-nautical-mile dash from Sydney to Flinders Islet, south-east of Wollongong, and back.

The best breeze of Sail Port Stephens’ second half closed out the pointscore for a record number of entries, triggered wipeouts and decided a brand new Australian Sports Boat champion and state champions in the VX One class, plus three IRC divisions.
The opening day of the Pantaenius Yacht Insurance Port Stephens Trophy challenged crews and on-water officials in equal amounts, long delays to the start of racing and a drawn-out single race against dramatic skies offshore for the Garmin NSW IRC Championship and Super 12 fleets.
The first half of Sail Port Stephens closed out in the most breeze of the three-day series, puffy southerly winds up to 22 knots on the bay causing spinnakers to flog and some crews to scramble as boats tipped and rounded up in the gusts.
