Sail Our Way- Female Participation Feva Project program

Australian Sailing and Sailing Raceboats have partnered to deliver the Feva Female Participation Project, a subsidised equipment opportunity for Discover Sailing Centres (DSCs), made possible through funding from the Australian Government’s Play Our Way initiative. 

This initiative provides subsidies for double-handed RS Feva dinghies, supporting the growth of female participation in sailing. The RS Feva class offers both social and competitive pathways for sailors of all ages, and this program will help activate RS Feva opportunities for women and girls through DSC programs, coaching, and competitive pathways across Australia. 

 

How the RS Feva Equipment Subsidy Works 

The subsidy is specifically designed to increase female participation. DSCs can apply for significantly discounted, purpose-fit RS Feva boats to enhance their programs, including: 

  • Dinghy programs 
  • OutThere Sailing 
  • Green, Intermediate, and Advanced Fleet Participation Programs 

 

Pricing & Package Details 

Successful DSC applicants will be able to purchase an RS Feva at a total subsidised price of $10,249.30 (incl. GST) per boat, plus freight to their club. 

Each RS Feva package includes: 
- Custom Dacron mainsail and Dacron jib,  
- Spinnaker pack 
- Top cover & trolley 
- Optional extras (race packs, wind indicators, race jibs, etc.) available at a discounted rate for successful applicants

Application Process & Next Steps 

  • The first shipment will leave RS headquarters in June to be ready for next summer. 
  • Clubs must complete payment before shipment. Freight costs and arrangements will be coordinated between Sailing Raceboats and successful clubs. 

Beyond the subsidy, Australian Sailing and Sailing Raceboats will collaborate on additional support to grow the Feva class and increase female participation through: 

  • Coaching clinics 
  • Webinars 
  • Feva-specific training resources 

Australian Sailing will review all applications and then advise clubs directly of the approval or rejection of their application.

 

Funding & Availability 

The subsidy is funded through the Australian Government Department of Health under the Play Our Way initiative. 

  • The RS Feva Program will run for the next two years under this grant initiative. (With this first round closing 1st of June)
  • A limited number of boats (subject to price changes)—are available under this scheme. 
  • Through the Feva Female Participation Project, Australian Sailing and Sailing Raceboats will subsidise over 30% of the cost of each RS Feva.

5. Application Confirmation

  1. I have authorisation from my DSC to apply for this Program. 2. I confirm the DSC understands the financial arrangement, including the requirement to pay 70% of the boat price to confirm the order and the remaining balance when boats are despatched (plus GST and shipping cost). 3. The DSC agrees to own the boats for a period of 5 years. 4. The DSC agrees to supply Australian Sailing with images of the boats being used in the DSC's Participation Programs. By submitting these images the DSC gives permission to Australian Sailing, Sailing Raceboats and Department of Health to use such photographs for promotional or other sailing and boating development and marketing purposes without my further consent being obtained. 5.
