Australian Sailing Tasmania, has worked closely with MAST to develop a document to support sailing clubs to ensure that our sailors stay safe. The Sailing Safely In Tasmania document gives yacht clubs around the state information about safety equipment for coach boats, navigation light requirements for coach boats and sailing dinghies, and the rights of piloted vessels and pilot-exempt vessels.
Two incident reports have been published by Australian Sailing. The first incident concerns the loss of rudders in the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and the second, an incident at the 2023 Teakle Classic Lincoln Week Regatta resulting in the death of a person.
The Organising Authority for an event assumes the responsibility for all aspects of the organising and running of an offshore event and must select a race category.
