Successful She Sails Queensland Event

Published Mon 04 Feb 2019

Darling Point Sailing Squadron held a She Sails try sailing day at Manly last weekend and had an amazing 52 ladies attend who were 6 to 60 years of age. Many of them had never tried sailing before and were taken out by a group of all female volunteers. Participants were provided with an early morning brunch as well as some sailing goodies. Despite an early rain storm, the weather was kind and a steady breeze was present during the morning.

The morning was a success with girls and women signing up for both the Tackers and Start Sailing 1 and 2 courses starting at DPSS soon, and having a great time on the water.

The club would like to thank Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron and Brisbane Boys College for the use of Elliott 7s and Pacers, as well as the 18 volunteers from DPSS and RQYS who helped out. The entire event was run by women for women and the huge turnout was fantastic. Queensland Government and Australian Sailing sponsored the event and the day couldn’t have been run without their generous support.
