Siska Trophy Awarded

Published Sat 18 Jul 2020

It’s over for another year. Nine races across eight months. 44 yachts entered, 29 hit the water at least once and an average of 15 each race. But there can only be one winner of the premier offshore racing glory. The Siska Trophy.

A prize pool of $5,000 was up for grabs across several divisions thanks to the generous support of season sponsor Kerman Contracting.

The consistency of the top seven during the season’s opening races coupled with their determination post COVID secured their results.

Offshore Series, Division 1, IRC Handicap – 1st ‘Joss’ Ian Clyne, 2nd ‘Checkmate’, 3rd ‘Indian’ with ‘Weapon of Choice’ swapping into third in PHS Handicap.

Division 2, IRC Handicap – 1st ‘Atomic Blonde’ Simon Torvaldsen, 2nd ‘Crush’, 3rd ‘Wyuna’ with ‘Soon’ Michael Thorpe swimming his way to First in PHS Handicap relegating everyone back down a rung.

Bluewater Series saw a smattering of boats sharing the podium between ‘Joss’, ‘Checkmate’, ‘Indian’, ‘Twitch’, ‘Argo’, ‘Crush’, ‘Atomic Blonde’ and ‘Sagacious’.

The Kerman Contracting Corinthian Trophies went to ‘Endorfin’ Michael Giles in Division 1 and ‘Wyuna’ Dennis Vincent in Division 2.

The overall coveted Siska Trophy recipient and 2019-2020 Offshore Season Winner – ‘Joss’ Ian Clyne and crew.

Well done to all the yachts, skippers and crews that competed in this year’s event amongst troubling times. Full results at sportspage.com.au
