OutThere Sailing is closing in on its first 1000 participants

Published Fri 01 Nov 2019

This is a fantastic turn out for the first part of the season, with plenty more to come.  OutThere Sailing is a program created for 12-17 year old’s to sail in a fun, social environment without the competition aspect sometimes associated with sailing.

Variety is one of the key factor for the program both for clubs and participants. Clubs are encouraged to utilise a wide variety of boats including Keelboats, Dinghies, Stand Up Paddle Boards, Windsurfers and Power boat adventures during their programs. The aim of the program is to have fun, hang out with friends and learn new skill under the guidance of a qualified Australian Sailing Instructor.

For participants the focus is on having fun and hanging out with friends, but also learning valuable life skills such as resilience and problem solving. Everyone takes on a different role in the boat and learn about team work whilst developing leadership skills that will extend far beyond their time on the boat. OutThere Sailing encourages clubs to facilitate a social environment where teenagers are able to cultivate real friendships with other’s from their local area, whilst potentially igniting a love for sailing in the process. Socialisation and fun both on and off the water are paramount; club culture is inclusive of everyone and there is plenty for parents and teenagers to get involved with.

We are so excited for clubs running OutThere Sailing to reconnect with the youth in their area and encourage youth culture within clubs. Sailing is a social sport and a fantastic way to spend time with mates out in nature and OutThere Sailing is the perfect way to encourage teenagers to get involved.
