Australian Sailing has produced NEW Keelboat - Start Skippering activity cards. The resources are for Instructors to assist in the running of Start Skippering courses, where participants will advance their sailing skills and safety knowledge to enable them to skipper unsupervised in sheltered waters. 

The start skippering course syllabus for been broken down and divided into 15 activity cards which when used in conjunction with a variety of other keelboat resources such as, textbooks, worksheets, videos, and hands-on activities, helps your participants with engagement and provides a better learning experience.  

The activity cards are designed to be used ashore and afloat during session delivery either as a quick reference or as visuals for participants, so it is recommended that they are printed and laminated for future use and durability.  

Don't wait until the last minute to start using the instructor resources. Make sure you read through the activity cards and adapt the resources to your specific requirements marking changes, making notes and highlighting as necessary to better meet the needs of your participants and location. Take the time to review all materials, and plan how you will use them in your sessions. This will help you to integrate the resources seamlessly into your instructing and will maximise their effectiveness.  

After using any instructor resource, take the time to reflect on its effectiveness. Did it help your participants learn? Was it engaging? Did it align with your session goals? Use this self-feedback to adjust your use of the resource in the future.
