Australian Sailing has produced 4 NEW Keelboat - Learn to Sail videos. The resources are for Instructors aimed at developing the fundamental skills needed for participants Sailing in the Keelboat program and to later progress with confidence.   

The videos, Heave- to, Tacking, Gybing and Overboard recovery- using the quick stop method, are great tools for all Learn to Sail Keelboat courses and can be used at all stages of the pathway, whether you use them as a resource for individuals to study up before a session to enhance experiences or as a training room theory piece during the session so they can break down the skills or understand what they will be learning on the water. Alternatively, they can be used as a review/ recap of the skills learnt in each session eg. as homework after each session to maximise face to face session time and keep Sailing fresh in their minds. 

The videos could also help with the misconceptions of Keelboat Sailing and help people who don’t know what to expect and are just wanting to get an idea of what is involved.  

The videos will not only benefit keelboat Instructors but will also be helpful to anyone thinking of becoming a Keelboat Instructor. All the videos are available via the Australian Sailing YouTube channel or through a good google search. 

Note: The videos do not replace good safety briefings and the participants still need to be checked for understanding.
