Look after your Members

Published Mon 15 Apr 2019

Sport and Recreation will be conducting its next Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) face-to-face workshop in Hobart from 6 to 9pm on Thursday 9 May, Domain Athletics Centre.

To attend please register here.

MPIOs are a proactive way of managing the rights of members in your sport. Having a dedicated person who is well versed with your sport's member protection policy can be a pre-emptive strategy in managing concerns, complaints and member protection matters.

MPIOs advise club members on their rights and can provide guidance on complaint procedures. Every sport should consider having at least one trained MPIO in each region. Larger sports may require more.

There are three steps to becoming a Play by the Rules recognised MPIO:

1. Complete an online MPIO training course though the Play by the Rules learning portal
2. Complete a free of charge face-to-face MPIO workshop— see below
3. Register as an MPIO nationally through www.playbytherules.net.au

Further MPIO workshops are planned in September in Launceston and Penguin.
