Levitating Lasers in Applecross

Published Thu 18 Jul 2019

Six of the 11 fleets hit the water last weekend in superb conditions despite the school holidays. Standard breeze from the Northeast this time of year filled the sails of the Opti’s, Laser’s, 29er’s and even a few Moth’s.

SoPYC sailor Conor Nicholas continued his 2024 campaigning in the Laser Standard, hot off the back of his F18 Worlds win last week. Each fleet got five races started except the 29er’s with three over the course of the afternoon.

‘Pimp Mobile’ and ‘Scar Tissue’ share top place mid series in the Moth fleet, whilst ‘Vortex’ has a lot of pressure from ‘No Pressure’ in the Opti’s. Not sure what ‘It’s Hell’ is complaining about being first in the Laser’s with ‘Y Knot’ leading the Laser Radial fleet.

Finishing on top was Mia Lovelady, just not the leader board. She started the day by dragging her boat onto the coach rib because someone forgot to put their bung in. ‘Miami’ sits high and dry, now, in second behind ‘Argo’ in the Laser 4.7’s.

Keeping a good look out whilst on the water is imperative, just in case there is a floating cameraman. View all the footage at perthsailingphotography.weebly.com and Tom Hodge Media on Facebook: www.facebook.com/TomHodgeMedia/
