Instructors in Focus: Windsurfing Instructors

Published Mon 18 Oct 2021

Windsurfing Instructors enjoy the thrilling feeling of gliding on the water while teaching participants of all ages the basic windsurfing notions and skills.

Windsurfing is a fantastic opportunity to practice physical activities, in amazing outdoor environments for both Instructors and participants. The required gear is relatively limited and does not represent an entry barrier to the sport. Windsurfing tests and develops coordination and reaction time skills to simultaneously control board and sail. Participants might be challenged to maintain their balance especially in the early learning stages but there is no better satisfaction for Instructors to see them smiling while riding their boards by themselves!

Regardless if participants are teenagers attending the OutThere Sailing program (12-17 years old) or adults enrolling to the Windsurfing program (12 years old and over) windsurfing is an great way to experience freedom and excitement on water.

Windsurfing Instructors can run the first two courses of the Windsurfing Program - Start Windsurfing and Better Windsurfing and teach participants to safely sail independently. Windsurfing Instructors wanting to teach the higher-level Start Racing course need to apply and obtain the Windsurfing Racing Instructor qualification. This will allow them to teach more advanced participants how to develop their racing abilities and compete with other.

Accredited Discover Sailing Centres use only Australian Sailing qualified Windsurfing Instructors to deliver their OutThere Sailing and Windsurfing courses. This enables participants to learn effectively in a safe and enjoyable environment. For participants, instructors are the face of the Centre they work for and substantially influence customer retention and satisfaction. Behind successful Centres there are always successful Instructors!
