Illawarra Yacht Club to hold 47th RL24 National Championships
The 47th RL24 National Championships will be held at Illawarra Yacht Club between the 5th and 9th of January 2020.
The RL24 class has a very proud history in the 'trailer sailor' scene, boasting the family involvement that the class attracts and its 47 years of Championships.
A number of boats regularly attending the National Championships are completely crewed by family and some of these are sailing with the third generation of RL sailors.
The association is very happy to announce that the Illawarra Yacht Club (IYC) will again host the National Championships.
The RL24’s sailed at IYC in 2018, with all sailors enjoying the racing and socialising that the club offers.
2020 will see the introduction of the 'Rob Legg Invitation Series Trophy' in honour of the class designer Rob Legg, who passed away suddenly in February at 90 years old.
This was not long after the association had honoured him with a sail-by at RQYS in January.
If you own an RL24 and are thinking of attending the Championships put these dates in your diary - we would love to see you there.
More information about the class and the 2020 Championships can be found on the Rob Legg Yachts website, which you can access here.
