ICR Turns 30

Published Thu 21 Nov 2019

Formerly known as the International Classes Regatta, the ICR commences today at the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club from 9am. This two-day event is the club’s premier dinghy regatta where sailors can get in some last-minute practice before heading to their respective National Championships over the festive season.

154 sailors have entered to compete in two race areas on their Olympic style course. Principal Race Officers John Taylor and Geoff Brown will be supported by almost 60 volunteers.

Fleets racing this year include; Optimist, O'pen Skiff, 420, Laser, Mirror, Contender, 29er, WASZP BIC Techno, Nacra 15’s and Flying Ant classes. The club prides itself on promoting youth sailing and involvement, so there will be a separate Open and Intermediate fleet for both the Optimist and O'pen Skiff classes as well as opportunities for Green and Orange fleet sailors on both days.
