Can I go sailing? Updated advice for the sailing community

Published Fri 03 Apr 2020

In the past 24 hours several state maritime regulatory bodies have clarified their position regarding sailing as an acceptable form of exercise under the overarching social distancing guidelines.

We urge sailors to check your appropriate jurisdiction's advice from the list below for the latest update, but please note that these are expected to change frequently and often without much notice.

Whilst it is incumbent on individuals to make an informed decision as to whether or not it is essential to go sailing, where possible Australian Sailing is encouraging sailors to stay at home and stay safe for the time being.

In jurisdictions where sailing is deemed to be an essential form of exercise, we remind sailors to abide by the social distancing guidelines as set by your appropriate maritime regulator.

We recommend following your state’s Australian Sailing Facebook page for timely state-specific advice, and to contact your local Regional Manager with any further questions: https://www.sailing.org.au/about/ourstaff/
