2019 Queensland Clubs Conference Wrap Up
Over 60 participants from 53% of the Queensland Sailing Clubs participated in this years Queensland Clubs Conference making it the biggest conference yet. It was a great weekend full of presentations from industry experts, case studies of success stories shared by fellow clubs and insights and updates on relevant topics from key Australian Sailing Staff. Positive feedback from many participants has already been received claiming it to be the best conference they have attended in the last 5 years.
The conference this year was hosted by the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron and a big thanks must be passed on to their polite and helpful staff for their assistance in making the weekend run so smoothly. The conference was combined with the 2019 Queensland Sailing Awards on the Saturday night (a run down on the winners can be found here) and a Yachting Queensland General Meeting on the Sunday morning which resulted in the new Club Levy System adopted, voted in by members 69 in favour to 4 votes against and a new Yachting Queensland Constitution adopted and voted in by members with unanimous agreement.
A landmark weekend indeed for sailing in Queensland. There where many questions over the weekend about the number of clubs who where not represented and how much information they would be missing out on. A copy of the presentations are below, but nothing compares to actually being in the room and I encourage all clubs to attend next years events to ensure you don’t miss out.
A massive thank you to all those that did attend, we had great representation from our regional clubs which goes to show that even amongst busy schedules participants thought it valuable to drive for hours or fly from the north to attend and gain the valuable insights and networking that only these sort of events provide. Thank you.
