ORCV Winter Series Flare Shoot

All ORCV Winter Series Race 2 entrants are eligible to let off hand-held and rocket/parachute marine flares from their boats once directed at 9am.

It's not easy getting approvals these days and opportunities to discharge parachute flares on water from a yacht are rare, but doing so has been part of our Winter Series since the early 80’s and practice for ocean safety.

The ORCV team has obtained the necessary approvals from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), Port of Melbourne Corporation, Victorian Water Police, Coast Guard Melbourne) so make sure you have entered to be eligible.

Entries are open for the Winter Series or registering for an individual race.
