True Sport Blurb/ Overview Presentation (Session 1):
True Sport, powered by SportWest supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) provides a framework for safeguarding, supporting, and equipping the WA sport industry in a long-term, sustainable manner. True Sport is the overarching, umbrella with initiatives including Mental Health & Wellbeing, Child Safeguarding and Sideline Behaviour, providing specialised support for sports to tackle industry challenges.
True Sport is the realisation of over 18 months of review, consultation and industry feedback conducted by SportWest regarding the contemporary needs of sport delivery in Western Australia, and remains a program that is by the industry, for the industry. The True Sport Website houses an array resource developed to assist WA State Sport Associations to commence or continue their journey of creating a more positive sporting environment.
This presentation will provide an overview of the program and the resources that can support community sport in WA.
Visit truesport.com.au to have a look at the resources and support available for sailing clubs in WA through the True Sport program.
True Sport Child Safeguarding Initiative (Session 2):
The True Sport Child Safeguarding Initiative aims to assist State Sport Associations (SSAs) to understand, navigate and then start to action the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. The resources include a self-assessment tool to assist SSAs to work through each National Principle. Informed by the results of the self-assessment tool, an action plan will help SSAs implement each National Principle based off sport-tailored examples. The initiative provides over 75 resources to assist State Sport Associations (SSAs) to understand, navigate and then start to action the National Principles. Focused on building organisational capacity and capability, the Child Safeguarding resources offer support in navigating how to become a child safe organisation. SportWest provide free webinars and workshops and shared industry learning opportunities to support organisations to embed child safe practices in sport.
Together, we all have a role to play in community sport and keeping children and young people safe. Find out support available to sailing clubs in WA.
