Hall swaps two-handed racing for exciting new project with youth sailors

Disko Trooper¬_Contender Sailcloth was launched in time for Jules Hall to contest the 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart - in two-handed mode with Jan ‘Clogs’ Scholten - the pair making a name for themselves and the boat early on, but this year a change in circumstances means they have adopted a new approach to the race.

Finalists named for new Team of the Year Award

2023 saw a shake-up to the Award categories at the Australian Sailing Awards, with changes including the addition of the Team of the Year Award. The award recognises a crew of two or more sailors, from any category of sailing, who performed outstandingly in a sailing event(s) or other activity in the nomination period.

2023 Beneteau Cup conquers the elementson Sydney Harbour

They usually come from far and wide to attend Flagstaff Marine’s annual Beneteau Cup. The 2023 edition definitely continued that trend, and how! Since being created some 28 years ago, no one else has amassed 7400nm to be a part of it. Charles-Etienne Devanneaux and his crew of French offshore legends brought the very new Beneteau First 44, Lenny, all the way from Los Angles via the world famous Transpac race to Hawaii, thence on to Fiji, New Caledonia, and ultimately, Sydney.

Middle Harbour Yacht Club hosted the first of the five race 2023 Sydney Harbour Women’s Keelboat Series on Sunday 24 September and the 22 crews across two divisions enjoyed good racing conditions with a 7-10kt NE on an incoming tide.
