Families that sail together stay together - just ask those whose enthusiasm for sailing has rubbed off on the younger generation and other family members at Airlie Beach Race Week (ABRW) - among them is Geoff Dews, whose family have joined him for a special celebration.

A stunning day for the Airlie Beach Race Week (ABRW) opener, a mass start of 178 boats on Pioneer Bay, in winds of 15 knots from the south-east blowing down on those taking part in the Whitsunday Sailing Club’s marquee event in the scenic Whitsunday Islands – then petering out for the second line – making for an interesting day and some surprise results. 

The Seventh Annual WinterBash off the beach regatta at Woody Point, Brisbane attracted its largest ever fleet. 

A record fleet of 185 plus entries in 2022, surpassing the all-time record of 133 boats at Airlie Beach Race Week (ABRW) in 2016 will enjoy their first major regatta of the northern regattas season when the start gun fires in the Whitsunday Islands from 11 to 18 August.

Southport Yacht Club announces the Summer of Sailing Series Australia! A premier Sailing Series jointly hosted by Southport Yacht Club, Queensland Cruising Yacht Club and Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. The Series will be headlined by Southport Yacht Clubs ‘Premier Flagship Event’ Qoin Sail Paradise 2023 Regatta, which will run from Monday 2nd January to Friday 6th January.

Sailors will travel vast distances and boats will be delivered by road and water from far-reaching ports to be part of Australia’s premier destination regatta, Hamilton Island Race Week, from August 20-27.

It started nearly four years ago pre-SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week (SMIRW), and its quickly becoming an institution with competitors, whose first questions to Townsville Yacht Club (TYC) organisers include, “Is Cape Upstart on again?” 

Whatever direction the wind is blowing on Tuesday, August 13, Northerlies will be the flavour of the month for sailors competing in Airlie Beach Race Week.

The conditions were perfect for sailing and there was just the right amount of wind and sun.
