The first battle in the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race went to Jim Cooney’s Comanche, the imposing black and red supermaxi narrowly leading the Oatley’s same-length Wild Oats XI to Sydney Heads on a mild winter day, closely followed by Peter Harburg’s Black Jack, another 100-footer.

Four 100ft Super Maxi Yachts head to the Gold Coast in the 33rd Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race

A strong fleet of 55 yachts will be racing in the Annual 384-nautical mile Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race. 2018 will host four (4) 100ft super maxi’s. Current race record holder The Oatley Family’s Wild Oats XI skippered by Mark Richards, Jim Cooney’s Comanche, Christian Beck’s InfoTrack and Queensland’s Black Jack, skippered by Mark Bradford.

Hot contenders entered for 28th Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta

Twenty-one entries representing Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, NSW, Western Australia and the Northern Territory have already been received by Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron (RMYS) for the 28th Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta (AWKR) to be held from 9-11 June, 2018, and open to entries from Australia and overseas.
