Henrietta McRae steered her Dragon keelboat, ‘Dragon Lady’, to two wins from three races at the Brighton Ladies Skippers Series (BLiSS) today – it was the final race of the Port Phillip Women’s Championship Series (PPWCS) held on Port Phillip.

Races 3 and 4 of the Port Phillip Women’s Championship Series, hosted by the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria were held on Port Phillip today and the women sailed two long courses in oscillating winds at both ends of the spectrum on a gusty Melbourne day.

52 ladies attended a She Sails try sailing day at Darling Point Sailing Squadron on the weekend. The entire event was run by women for women and the huge turnout was fantastic.
Lucy Townson from Royal Geelong YC, and Westernport Yacht Club local Issy Barden are the 2018 Montalto Women on Water Regatta perpetual trophy winners. Both Lucy and Issy were recognised for their race results, sportsmanship, enthusiasm, passion and determination across the weekend. They were both extremely committed to learning and their lovely attitude over the weekend was noticed by all competitors, volunteers and race officials.
Wendy Tuck, who this year became the first female skipper to ever win a round the world yacht race, has scooped the pool at this year’s Australian Sailing Awards. Tuck took out the top honour in winning the Female Sailor of the Year as well as bagging the inaugural Offshore Sailor of the Year award for her efforts in leading Sanya Serenity Coast to victory in the Clipper Round the World Race in July.
